I will always be grateful for the time that I trained with Sensei Teruo Chinen. Chinen Sensei alongside Sensei Morio Higaonna, Sensei Rodney Hu Sr., Sensei Kazuo Terauchi, Sensei Juichi Kokubo, Sensei George Andrews, and Sensei Bakkies has had a profound impact on my personal training and life.
Es un honor y privilegio contar con los Maestros de Okinawa

Is the man in the left in the first Higaonna Sensei? If so, it looks like he’s a bit awkward with point sparring. Wish we could see him in full contact.
Too bad it wasn’t a kyokushin tournament so we could have seen how Higaonna Sensei really fought.
Wow you look cool without a beard ( you look cool with a beard too )
Nice to see this footage of Shinjo sensei. He had great moves for a large man. "The Bull" of Go Ju, indeed. I was lucky to have trained in his dojo for three years. Very kind man.
hahaha your the haha im master of all of you liquan nan is awsome were are kungfu boys haha
This is amazing. I just started training at a Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu school in Ontario, and am learning fukyugata ichi right now. This was a real treat, thank you for uploading - great study material
Such a shame Master Kuniba passed away at such a relatively young age. Imagine how much more he could have done with his systems of Kuniba-Ha Shito Ryu and Kuniba-Ryu Goshindo!
Which one is chinen.?
Incredible. Thank you.
You're welcome

First fight opponent looks a lot like Chuck Norris....
my father Edwin went to Japan with Soke Kuniba in 1985 for two different tournaments.
i don't even know him but already love his karate, thanks a lot for sharing it .

he was with Soke Shogo Kuniba in 1972 BUT was dropped from the roster of Seishin Kai Karate Union and in 1984 was accepted back . it had to do to certian affiliations with the United States and Shito Ryu Karate Association,
it was Soke John Simmons. of the A.B.K.I .he called he's system of shito and American kempo blends. Shuri Ryu Goshin jutsu kempo Karate do.
Sorry, never met him. Not one of the guy's that trained w/ us in the 80's
i know this sia kata. Look, i learned from my teacher. and he got it from his teacher late Shiyogo Kuniba.
Yes, Kuniba was quite the guy. What is your sensei's name?
high waters.
He grew too fast. ;)
My comments relate to parts 5 and 6
+Leonard Sim Are you sure? Please see under the description tab where I wrote: "08/11 I received this info from Bakkies Laubscher Sensei of the IOGKF "The event was 1975 WUKO World Champs in Long Beach Ca. and features the South African team, of which I was a member . The footage of the fighting was taken by a teammate and the demos by myself on Super 8 movie! This was before the IOGKF was founded in 1979, so it was Higaonna Sensei with his 'Kohei, Chinen Teruo Sensei performing."
These movies are from the 1976 Lifesavers International in Johannesburg South Africa between S Africa Japan and England. I was part of the English team and the Japanese team was from Yoyogi dojo (Tokyo) and the Jundokan. They were Terauchi (1st dan), Menai Sensei(6th Dan) now 10th Dan , Uehara Sensei (5th Dan), Aari Sensei and Tadano Sensei (4th Dan) (grades at time of tournament)
OK Thanks for the clarification. I will change it and add the other url to the description if it clearer
I trained with him for a few years while attending college. Love his Goju ryu. Did he hold a Gasshuku in 2015?
Just read an article on Master Teruo Chinen. The world has lost one of the best masters and a true gentleman.
It is with great sadness that I must convey to you that Chinen Teruo Sensei passed away earlier today from complications of diabetes and kidney failure. JP
